Synopsis

Extremadura: The Invisible Wild takes viewers into one of Europe’s richest yet least explored natural worlds. Beyond the iconic birds, forests and open landscapes that have made Extremadura famous lies a hidden realm where every flower, rock and pond shelters extraordinary stories of survival.

As spring awakens the region, the documentary descends into this miniature wilderness to reveal astonishing creatures and behaviours rarely witnessed. Colour-changing spiders vanish among blossoms, aquatic beetles dive beneath the surface carrying their own air supply, insects employ remarkable reproductive strategies, and amphibians race against time to complete their life cycles before their fragile ponds disappear.

Filmed through spectacular close-up cinematography and featuring rarely seen animal behaviour, the film uncovers an intricate web of relationships linking plants, insects, arachnids, amphibians and reptiles. In this world, every millimetre matters, and evolution has produced extraordinary solutions to the challenges of feeding, reproducing and staying alive.

Extremadura: The Invisible Wild reveals a hidden dimension of nature, where beauty, drama and survival unfold beyond the limits of ordinary human perception, proving that some of the greatest wonders of the natural world are also its smallest.
