The Palmarians’ objective was to expand. Over ten years, thanks to the money from parishioners, the majestic basilica is built. In a few years Clemente and his associate Manuel Alonso had created a vast economic yet fraudulent empire. Following many problems, the Palmarian Christian Church is authorized to register in the Ministry of Justice’s Registry of Religious Entities in 1988. But the days of milk and honey began to crumble with veiled accusations. This will end up having consequences for Clemente and the Palmarians.
