Synopsis

Between Three-Hearted and Mysterious Scavengers

On the fragile frontier where land and sea clash with every tide, life must constantly adapt. The rock octopus, a hunter with three hearts, blue blood, and astonishing intelligence, rules this shifting world where few creatures dare to live.

Further south, across Iberia’s sun-scorched deserts, sun beetles, sand wasps, and the swift red-tailed lizard defy the heat with precision and agility. Among thorny cacti, the trash-line orb-weaver constructs macabre traps from the remains of her prey, a masterpiece of deception and survival.

And beneath the sand, hidden from sight for centuries, a biological enigma is finally revealed. For the first time ever, cameras capture the elusive Necróphylus arenarius, one of Iberia’s least-known invertebrates, previously seen only in still photographs. Its elongated body, periscope-like jaws, and scavenging habits unveil a subterranean world as ancient as it is unsettling.

As night falls, new stories emerge: the ethereal Isabel moth spreads her wings, while natterjack toads fill the air with their courtship calls in ephemeral ponds. Ancient survivors like triops, fairy shrimp, and damselflies continue life cycles unchanged for over 200 million years.

A journey through tides, deserts, and hidden waters where miniature creatures reveal the grandeur and mystery of a world as old as time itself.
