The documentary is set in the far north of Sweden and Norway, where a conflict over land and borders seem to be eternally ongoing. Simon and Beatrice Marainen and their three children are a part of an indigenous Sami semi-nomadic community of reindeer herders who have traditionally always moved freely across northern Scandinavia, following the natural movement of their herds. Today, however, nationalism, bureaucracy and politics threaten their traditional way of life.
Radji is part of Borderline, a collection of 6 documentary films, made by talented European filmmakers. Each film focuses on a prominent and characteristic border that surrounds or divides the European continent.
