The daunting mission would not have happened but for the steadfastness of the director of the National Music Institute of Afghanistan, who moved heaven and earth to save his orchestra. We followed his struggle against the new watchdogs of the Taliban and filmed this high-risk operation from day one. From Kabul to Melbourne and Lisbon, 300 Afghan students and teachers have eventually regained their freedom to celebrate Afghan culture abroad and spread the hope of better days for their people.
