Iceland is an inhospitable land.
Situated next to the Arctic Circle, the island is covered in snow during long winters. In contrast, the heat beneath its surface, where two tectonic plates are splitting apart, emerges with relentless volcanic activity. Its destructive force drags ecosystems to a new starting point. And despite this adverse and extreme nature, an opportunity opens up every summer. Good weather and persistent sunshine are the gift that reindeer, seals and other species that inhabit this place have been awaiting for months. Hundreds of thousands of birds also migrate here during the breeding season, filling the island with a flurry of activity.
Its spectacular landscapes are shaken with a jolt every year. In Iceland, life has awakened anew.
