Ancestral Secrets (Ep 7: The Law of Reciprocity)

Edmundo Pacheco is “Amauta”: an expert in medicine and a spiritual guide. He is heir to one of the largest cultures in South America: the Aymara, who inhabit the Andean highlands. He lives in La Paz and is preparing to travel to the outskirts of Potosí, to participate in one of the best kept rituals in Bolivia: “La Fiesta del Bombori”, a syncretic celebration, where the “Spirit of Lightning” is worshiped. At midnight they light hundreds of bonfires and go on pilgrimage on their knees, requesting energy to cope with the diseases that afflict them.
