Synopsis
During wintertime, the Pyrenees follow the beat of the spirit of Carnival. This season of disarray, of a “world up-side-down,” is a reflection of our primitive notions of celebration. The Masked Pyrenees travels to explore the Carnival rituals that have survived in many mountain villages to this day. It is a journey through various valleys in Aragon, Navarre, Andorra, the French Basque Country, and the Roussillon region of the Eastern French Pyrenees.
